If you've driven along the eastern edge of Henderson near Lake Las Vegas lately, you may have noticed something new taking shape: Aries, a massive residential community rising on the site of the historic Three Kids Mine.
From Mine to Master-Planned Community
For decades, the 1,100+ acre site near Lake Mead Parkway sat idle — a scarred stretch of desert that once produced manganese for the U.S. government between 1917 and 1961. After the mine closed, the land sat contaminated and undeveloped for more than 60 years, a hole in the map right next to one of Henderson's most desirable areas.
That's finally changing.
PulteGroup has opened Aries, a new community built on the former mine site, and city officials confirm the environmental remediation is complete — there is no contamination remaining anywhere on the property. The only cleanup task left was hauling off leftover waste rock.
What's Coming to Aries
City records show plans for upwards of 3,000 homes on and around the former Three Kids Mine property. Beyond rooftops, Aries is being designed as a true lifestyle community, with:
Multiple parks
Pickleball and sand volleyball courts
Splash pads
Play areas
BBQ pits and gathering spaces
As of mid-June, Pulte already held permits for 155 homes in the community — and that's just the beginning.
Multiple Builders, One Community
PulteGroup developed the land, but it isn't building every home itself. Like many large master-planned communities, Pulte has sold off tracts to other homebuilders to bring variety to the neighborhood:
Richmond American Homes purchased roughly 70 lots in Aries for $16.2 million this past May
D.R. Horton picked up about 100 lots later that same month for approximately $22.4 million

The Road to Redevelopment
Getting here took over a decade of planning. In 2014, Congress passed the Three Kids Mine Remediation and Reclamation Act, clearing the path for federal land within the site to transfer to the City of Henderson's Redevelopment Agency. That set the stage for cleanup and redevelopment. In 2024, the Bureau of Land Management transferred roughly 850 acres to the Redevelopment Agency, which then transferred the land to Pulte — turning a century-old environmental liability into one of Henderson's next big growth corridors.
Why This Matters for Henderson Buyers
Henderson continues to be one of the most in-demand markets in the Las Vegas valley, and inventory of new-construction land close to Lake Las Vegas is limited. Aries adds thousands of new homes to a submarket that buyers have wanted into for years but haven't had many options — especially with recognizable builders like Richmond American and D.R. Horton now breaking ground.
